As I’m frequently getting into trouble with my boyfriend for various reasons not to be disclosed here, I’d thought I’d quickly share one of my admonishment- evasion tricks:
No one can get mad at you if you make them dinner.
The farmers market at USQ has become my go-to venue. I usually rush through the market on the way home, grabbing only what I need and trying to avoid the solicitors milling about… However my new “early retirement” has afforded me the opportunity to take time and explore yet another delicious experience NYC has to offer.
Over 140 regional farmers, fishermen, and bakers come to Union Square on M,W,F,S to offer their delicious seasonal bounty to us city dwellers - today’s take: japanese and rainbow turnips from Paffenroth Gardens, oysters & scallops from Blue Moon Fish, serrano peppers from Eckerton Hill Farm.
And for the culinary impaired, not to worry, these vendors are happy to suggest simple recipes and prep tips that will either wow that someone of yours who could use a little impressing…or distract them from noticing your deviant ways.

If you have a love of marine life and are free tomorrow night, you should get tickets for the Wildlife Conservation Society’s annual Dinner by the Sea. For over 100 years, the WCS New York Aquarium has provided a window into the wonders of the ocean and local waters around them. Tomorrow will be a memorable night with an after hours tour of the aquarium followed by a festive dinner. Since many of you (like myself) don’t know exactly how to get to coney island, transportation to and from the Aquarium will be provided from the Knickerbocker Club at Fifth Avenue and East 62nd Street. tickets are still available online at:

I attended a reception at Christie’s last night to view the upcoming FIRST OPEN and ARTISTS FOR HAITI sales. One of my favorites to be sold tomorrow is a drawing titled “Sad Dog” by Yoshitomo Nara- If anyone’s looking to get me an early birthday present, that will do nicely…
Ben Stiller was there supporting the upcoming Artists For Haiti Charity Auction on Sept 22nd that he and gallerist David Zwirner have curated and organized.

Fingers crossed that the weather holds out for tonight’s Andrea Bocelli concert in Central Park. Only in NYC can you hear such an acclaimed tenor perform with the NY Philharmonic, under the stars, and free to the public. This city is amazing!
Though fashion week is making me feel a little better about fall, a part of me is still clinging to summer. Perhaps it’s the thought that the days of sunset sails and pimm’s cups have come to a close… Luckily, Andaz on 5th is still serving delicious lobster rolls, helping me keep the dream alive…

Only 2 days until the Wildlife Conservation Society’s big spring event- An Evening At The Central Park Zoo! I cannot wait to have cocktails with the penguins and see what Preston Bailey is doing with this year’s theme of Elephants & Ivory - though I don’t know how it can get any better then last year’s decor- that sea anemone entrance was spectacular!
